Holidays That Focus on Nutrition

When it comes to holidays in March, everyone knows that St. Patrick’s Day is the big one.  But did you know that March is also National Nutrition Month?  It even has bragging rights to two other “green” holidays that can help you celebrate your own health.

March 22nd  – World Water DayWorld Water day

March 26th – National Spinach DayNational Spinach Day

Staying hydrated and eating lots of greens is vital to your optimal nutrition.  Spinach is an especially great powerhouse because it’s an anti-inflammatory, contains antioxidants (like vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-carotene, manganese, and zinc), lowers blood pressure, and the vitamin K contributes to a healthy nervous system.  Eat it in salads, pasta, soup, pesto, smoothies, or even stir fried.  You can’t go wrong!
