After a November and December full of celebrations, family time, and vacations, people are ready to get their health back on track in January. It happens every year at our chiropractic office, Network Family Wellness Center, in Boulder, Colorado. Usually people are looking to improve in the areas of fitness, pain-free movement, weight loss, and just generally being the best versions of themselves in the New Year.
Taking care of people for 20 years, you tend to notice trends. One trend that is exciting for us is when our regular clients come in and say: “In the past, I’ve always gotten ill in January, but this January I haven’t. And, everybody else at my place at work has!”
What does this have to do with your spine and nervous system? Everything! The health of your nerve system is intimately involved with your immune system. When your spinal structure and neural behavior is healthy, adaptable, and flexible, the more responsive your immune system will be. Studies show that your cardiovascular system improves as well.
This is why we train our staff to encourage practice members to come in for appointments even if they are not feeling well. Chiropractic adjustments help you recover more quickly, from the common cold and flu people experience in this time of year. If you do end up not feeling well, by all means come in to see us; don’t stay at home. A key to feeling better faster is keeping the nerve system unobstructed. Keeping your nerve system strong will keep your immune system strong. Don’t slow your recovery by skipping chiropractic adjustment visits.
Lastly, our absolute favorite January trend comes when the people that we take care of tell us how grateful they are for the opportunity to come in and become the best versions of themselves. During this first month of the year when people have taken some time for their holiday trips and vacations and they come back after being away for a week or two, they invariably say how much they’ve missed being fine-tuned and at their best.
